NOTE: Delete has been FIXED! If you click the link again it will overwrite your existing program and then you can delete it! Sorry for the wait! I’m an idiot and had a typo….. AARGH! Make sure you reset your tones back to default before you delete or you’re stuck with them (unless you reinstall the app). Don’t worry – it’ll delete again. We did it over, and over, and over, and over………
OK – now on to more app building!
SPECIAL NOTE! So I stop getting tons of emails.
When you click the link in your email, it will HIGHLIGHT for about a second or two. THEN —- NOTHING! But the app will be installed. There is NO “Do you want to proceed” or anything. It’s quiet and sneaky – ninja like as pointed out before. That’s too funny.
We have changed the app to allow you te reset your tones to the default ones. There is a toggle switch at the top. For now, you will have no reason to delete because you can switch back and forth. If you don’t want custom tones, switch the toggle to on and you’ll default to the stock Pre tones.

I just saved it to my pc and then dragged it over into my phone, all good.

I realize i’m stating the obvious but you can use short mp3 sounds vs short wav files!
Figured I’d come back and share the workaround I just found for anyone else who is getting the timeout error on their Pre where they can’t open the email sent directly from Pimp My Pre..
The link/email is fine.. it’s just something with opening it on the Pre. All I had to do was go into my email from a computer, copy/paste the link into a new email, and send it to myself again (although I did send to a different email account.. but I doubt that matters). Then I opened the new email on my Pre, the link came up, and I was able to click and install.

I’m still not completely clear on Alerts vs Notifications. I’ve figured out that it’s the notification tone that sounds when I get a text or when I plug the pnoe into the charger. I don’t think I get any kind of audio notification at all when emails come in. Is that because it’s just getting the emails that go to my personal email account, and not to some special Sprint or Pre account?
Overall, I like the program, and I know there will be enhancements to come. I use a .wav from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, “FFFFT! Message for you, sir!”
Okay….call me stupid…but where in the hell is the link? I dont see a link. I just see something on my pc that says “send to my pre” Is that the link I need to email to myself???? Because I am getting the timed out message on my pre as well.
For those asking, there are oodles of .wav sounds available for download all over the place. I downloaded a .wav from the University of Tennessee’s official website of their band playing “Rocky Top” which I’ve been using as my primary ringtone for years, on several different phones.
It’s also really easy to make your own. Audacity is a free software download. It’s a sound editing program that’s quite easy to use. You can open your favorite mp3 with it, cut it down to just the part you want to use, then export it as a .wav file directly to your pre’s ringtone folder. I’ve used it to make plenty of sound files for my family’s phones. I made one a couple of years ago, specially for the Halloween season, by downloading about a dozen .wav files of screams, and pasting them together with Audacity. Every year I make it my ringer for that season. It’s about 20-25 seconds of blood-curtling screams. I get a lot of comments on that one….some good….some not. I don’t care. I like it. One of my co-workers made one from a file of a cricket chirping, so he doesn’t have to worry when he’s hunting. If his phone rings, the critters he’s hunting don’t get spooked. It’s just a cricket.

Love the app. Only problem is the tone plays when your on a phone call which is very irratating. Any way to fix that?

There’s a bug in the sound selector. Many of my slots are blank. The sound plays if I tap there, but the name is blank. If I select that sound then it shows blank on the main PMS screen.
How many files are in the folder? What type of sound files? I know that the ringtone folder has problems with more than 50 sounds. Are the names extremely long? If you use your Palm Pre sounds app and look at them, do they display?
Can’t take a screen shot in the “sound selection list” because as soon as I hold down the Orange key and SYM key the screen goes blank.
When I open my email on my phone and click on the link nothing happens, I tried sending it to a different email address but nothing happens either HELP PLEASE
Downloaded yesterday and works great. Looking forward to upgrades to seperate Text from Email, etc. Hope your going to do that for us on call folks that need loud text sound but not on email too.

I was finally able to install on phone. When I turn the switch “on” for defaukt sounds it doesn’t stay, always goes back to “off” any ideas why?
Because it sets them and then it completes. I probably should have changed the wording. It goes back to off an waits for you to reset them, does what it needs to do, and goes back to a waiting status (off).
But the new notification is not saving, still has the same sound
nevermind it worked but now the notifications still goes on even after I open and check the new message. How short does the .wav file have to be? I used the “discrete” one from the pre-loaded sounds
I sent it to my email, I figured out that the link wasnt showing up bc I had to allow links from sender on my pc.
Now I see the link, I click on it… but nothing happens.

I found out it did download all you have to do is click the link and then check in your menu and it should be there
i’ve tried to do it from my email and only blank pages come up
Any idea when you guys may have an update to be able to set different ringers for “unknown caller” “email” “sms” notification and what not??? Love the app you have btw and hope to see the alerts for different apps mentioned above.

Palm pushed out an update to everyone’s phones that plugs the hole we were using for installation. You can only install if your phone hasn’t been updated to WebOS 1.0.4
when i click on the link in my email nothing happends and its not installed. am i sopposed to restart my pre after i click on the link?
I have sent the link to my email and clicked on it several times it highlights gray and then does nothing, then I am going to my sound notifications and seeing that nothing has changed is the app installed? where do i find it?
If your Pre has been upgraded to version 1.0.4 then you cannot install it. We’re working on a way around this without some long complicated procedure and also working on other apps. The idea is that we’ll have a lot of things to throw at you at once instead of one small app. Keep checking back, or register and we’ll email you when we have something for you.
