This is a quick example of what we’ve been working on. This isn’t our stand alone app, because we haven’t built an installer for the Pre yet, so we hacked it into the Sounds and Ringtones section.

It just shows that YES we can code and YES we are ready to get these out to you. It’s only a matter of time.
In respect for Palm, we will NOT release the code or any hacks – we are true developers and will produce completely FREE applications for you to download. We promise.

First, pick a time of day when you will not be using your phone, because the process will take about 20 minutes to complete.

1. Click the up arrow
2. Go to the 3rd screen to the right and choose Updates
3. Ignore the wording saying the download will be done when your phone is idle and click download at the bottom of the screen.

4. When the download completes, it is validated.

5. After validating, the button will change to Install Now

6. Click Install now. The screen will change to the word Palm with a status bar underneath indicating the installation is occuring. There is also a warning to not remove the battery.

7. Wait……and wait….. and… you get the picture

8. After the installation completes, your Palm Pre will display the word Palm, then it will start to glow. This takes approximately 3-5 minutes and, if you’re epileptic, I suggest you turn away.

9. When the installation is complete, you will be returned to the Updates card where you can click Done and go enjoy your new alarm clock!

The new WebOS that you can download OTA (over the air) to your pre has a new Alarm Cock included with it. Pimp My Pre created a quick tutorial on how to set an alarm and choose between a digital or analog format.

To turn on advanced scrolling for your Palm Pre, go to:

1:  Screen and lock
2. Choose – Switch Applications: On

Complete swipe from left to right, or right to left and switch between cards.

Register First!

OK, you’ve checked the Palm Pre Themes and found what you wanted.
Click on the Send to my Pre link and the item in that particular post will be emailed to your registered account.
Now what?

1. Check your email and open the message from Pimp My Pre
2. Click on the photo attachment
3. When the attachment opens, choose to Copy to Photos
4. Go to the main dashboard and find Screen and Lock
5. Choose Change Wallpaper
6. Look in the Downloads folder
7. Choose the new wallpaper and exit

To reset your palm pre (including data reset):

- Press the center button, and open device info

- Tap Phone Reset Options

- Tap ‘partial erase’.

Warning: This will erase some data, not to include pictures etc.

From preliminary reports, I’ve found that you can add some longevity (cough, cough) to your batter life by following some simple rules:

1.  Use Wi-Fi as much as possible.  The pre actually will thrive much better in this environment (obviously) but when using Sprint it has been said to drain the battery at a much faster rate.

2. Peace out AIM.  Typically any instant messaging client is a drain but in some ramblings I’ve come to the consensus that AIM is the king of them all when it comes to your battery.

3. Email. Limit high volume accounts to once every 10-15 minutes.

4. Come to PimpMyPre.com Often.  Every time you visit our site you get 5 more minutes of battery life…..

1. Hold the Orange, Sym, and P Keys.
